Pa. game officers looking for bear poacher

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is investigating the illegal killing of a black bear in Mifflin County.

Wildlife Conservation Officer Jeffrey Mock said the 200 pound female was found in a shale pit off Treaster Valley Road in Armagh Township.

The sow had several arrow wounds, the front feet were removed, and the bear was wrapped in a tarp, Mock said.

“Those responsible for this senseless killing need brought to justice, and we need the help of anyone knowing who did this to step forward,” Mock said in a news release.

A reward is available for information leading to a conviction. Mock said anyone who comes forward with a tip will remain anonymous.

Anyone with information may call the Game Commission’s hotline at 1-800-742-8001.
