Hit-and-run driver hit horse and buggy, injured 2

A young man and woman were seriously injured when a hit-and-run driver crashed into their horse and buggy in Lancaster County, police said.

State police in Lancaster said the buggy was struck from behind while traveling south on Route 272 in East Drumore Township, in the village of Buck, around 6 p.m. Thursday.

A dark colored pickup truck, possibly a Dodge, was seen leaving the scene and fled north on Route 272, locally known as Lancaster Pike.

Police said the truck will have damage to the front grill and fender areas.

The man and woman in the buggy were transported to Lancaster General Hospital in serious condition.

Police said both are in their early to mid-20’s. Their names were not released.

Witnesses and anyone with information about the crash is asked to call state police in Lancaster at 717-299-7650 or Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers at 1-800-4PA-TIPS.
