A jury in York County has handed down a death sentence for a man convicted of killing a Manheim Township woman more than four years ago.
The sentence for Timothy Jacoby was decided Thursday afternoon.
Jacoby, 41, was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the March 2010 shooting death of 55-year-old Monica Schmeyer.
Prosecutors argued that Jacoby deserves the death penalty because the murder was committed during another felony.
They believe Schmeyer was killed during a botched robbery at her home in the 3400 block of Trone Road.
Jacoby was also convicted of robbery, burglary and tampering with evidence.
His defense attorney argued that Jacoby had no violent criminal record.
