As Governor Tom Corbett celebrated the number of employment opportunities on his job-matching site reaching 250,000-plus, critics went to the press with proof of questionable posts.
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune, a Tom Wolf supporter approached reporters and showed them advertisements for escorts and private dancers.
“I think the real story here is that we have this tool for individuals to utilize. We have something that will help connect people with jobs,” Labor and Industry Secretary Julia Hearthway said.
Hearthway adds that the shady postings, noted by TribLive.com, have been removed.
“We are being very responsible in still providing a valuable service, but addressing anything that might filter through,” she said.
Like many other employment-based websites, Jobgateway.pa.gov pulls from various other private and public sources. Those include Craigslist, which was the source of all of the questionable posts.
