Purse, car stolen from Columbia home while residents slept

Police in Columbia are investigating the latest in a string of burglaries.

Officers say that around midnight Thursday someone burglarized a home in the 1200 block of Hereford Drive in Columbia.

According to police, the suspect entered the home through an unlocked door while the residences slept and took a purse, wallets, car keys and a 2006 black Toyota Camry from the driveway of the home.

The stolen vehicle’s plate is JNW-8933.

Officials say the majority of recent burglaries in the Columbia and West Hempfield areas have occurred while residents were home. Police want to remind residents to close and lock all windows, doors and other points of entry to their home at night and when the home is unoccupied.

Also, if you notice any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons, please report it to police.

Anyone with information about the investigation into the burglaries is asked to contact Columbia Police Detective Matt Leddy at 717-684-7735 ext 7210.
