A Lancaster man is headed to trial on charges he tried to lure to two young girls into his pickup truck with the promise of “chocolate daddies.”
Billy E. McCracken, 52, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday and was ordered to appear in Lancaster County court for a formal arraignment Sept. 26, according to court records.
McCracken is accused of an attempted child luring in the 700 block of Columbia Avenue on June 8.
According to the criminal complaint, he walked into a backyard where a 10-year-old girl and her 5-year-old sister were playing and asked the children if they wanted to go to a store and get “chocolate daddies.”
The 10-year-old told him no, grabbed her little sister by the arm, and ran into their home to tell their parents.
McCracken was stopped while driving a cream and brown colored pickup that was described by the older girl, and she positively identified him as the man who was in her backyard, the complaint states.
McCracken, who has prior DUI convictions, has been free on bail since July 16. Court records indicate he posted $200, 10 percent of the set amount of $2,000.
