Harrisburg man killed in I-81 crash near Scotland

A Harrisburg man died in a three-vehicle crash Thursday night on Interstate 81 at the Scotland exit in Franklin County.

Assoumana Aboubacar, 49, was a passenger in a 1993 Geo Prism that was hit from behind while stopped in traffic in the southbound lanes in Greene Township around 7:14 p.m., according to state police in Chambersburg.

The Prism burst into flames and struck the back of a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Police said a 2000 Ford Ranger struck the Geo at full speed after the driver, 21-year-old Gunner Ray Etchison of Shippensburg, became distracted.

Etchison and the driver of the Geo, 53-year-old Housseini Oumarou of Harrisburg, sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Chambersburg Hospital.

Another passenger in Oumarou’s car, 50-year-old Zakoua Yakoubou of Harrisburg, was flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.

The driver of the Tahoe, 40-year-old Mark Clites of Greencastle, was not injured.
