A man was arrested Wednesday night after following and firing at probation officers, according to Harrisburg police.
Officials say the incident began on the 1400 block of Vernon Street shortly after 9 p.m.
Probation officers were in the area doing checks when a black pickup truck started following their vehicle.
The suspect fired 3-4 shots over a span of several blocks, according to police.
The man was taken into custody after realizing he had nowhere to run on the 400 block of South 17th Street.
“The probation officers and all the police officers exhibited fantastic professionalism in that no one returned fire,” Harrisburg police Lt. Luis Rodriguez said.
The officers’ vehicle was not struck.
Police discovered a handgun in the pickup.
The suspect’s name has not been released.
