Police investigating distraction burglary in Ephrata

Police in Lancaster County are investigating a distraction burglary in Ephrata.

Police say a resident of a home in the 900 block of Pleasant View Road reported his home had been burglarized.

The victim reported cash and a safe containing valuables was missing from the home.

Police say the victim believes the burglary occurred on Thursday, Aug. 21st when a female lured the resident and his wife to their backyard.

According to police, the female indicated her company had been hired to trim trees on a neighboring property, and she wanted to ensure the job did not interfere with their yard.

Police say an accomplice waited in an SUV parked in the driveway. The female abruptly ended the conversation and left the property after receiving a phone call.

Police say the woman is described as a thin woman in her 30’s with shoulder length hair, and the vehicle is a large, white GMC SUV.

Anyone who may have had a similar experience in recent weeks is asked to contact police.
