The Brewery at Hershey is turning one year old this weekend. Instead of receiving gifts, the brewery is is giving to charity.
The Vineyard and Brewery at Hershey is Pennsylvania’s first all-in-one winery and craft brewery. The idea started “brewing” in 2008. The winery opened in 2012, and the brewery opened in August of 2013.
Over the past year, brewmaster Ryan DeLutis brewed 10,000 gallons of craft beer. To celebrate the first year of success, there is a big celebration on Saturday, August 16th from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A 5K begins at 8 a.m. It benefits Cystic Fibrosis.
A chili cook-off to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation begins at noon.
There will be live music all day. A special beer is being brewed for the event. It is called Dracarys, a smoked habanero dragonfruit tripel.
