York City School District leaders have a big decision to make that could affect thousands of students.
Several national charter school providers want to take over the district’s operations.
Wednesday night, the community heard from seven national charter school providers. It was a result of the district’s financial recovery plan, which was enacted last year.
The district is under deadline to decide if they should continue with the internal transformation model or not. The teachers union is struggling to come to an agreement with the district over salaries, among other things, and that is hindering the progress.
Some feel with no money, the district has no choice but to allow charter officials to take over.
A decision won’t be made until the fall.
