Police: Overnight crimes in Hershey probably related

Police believe there’s a link between four burglaries, damage to vehicles, and a car that was stolen and crashed into a house in Hershey overnight.

Derry Township police said the car struck a home at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Valley Road around 6 a.m., but the driver ran away before officers arrived.

The car, a silver 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, reportedly was stolen from the 200 block of West Granada Avenue overnight after the owner left the keys inside, police said.

The home struck by the Chevy sustained minimal damage.

Police said while they were investigating the incident, burglaries were reported at two garages on East Areba Avenue, a concession stand at Memorial Field on Cocoa Avenue, and at the  former Derry Township School structure on East Granada Avenue.

Each of the locations was ransacked, small tools and spray paint was removed, and fire extinguishers were discharged.

Vehicles in the area were spray painted and damaged, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Derry Township police at 717-534-2202 or Dauphin County Crime Stoppers at 800-262-3030.
