A York County doctor who improperly dumped thousands of personal medical records in a public dumpster is no longer practicing medicine.
Dr. R. Dale McCormick, who operated at York Academy of Surgery, has agreed to voluntarily give up his medical license, according to a consent agreement with the Department of State.
McCormick notified patients in November that he was retiring and they should pick up their files by January 1.
Authorities said in April and May, he dumped the remaining 5,000 patients records in a public dumpster at the York County Resource Recovery Center.
He was legally required to keep the medical records for at least seven years.
