A Harrisburg man faces charges after officials say his 8-year-old son died earlier in the week.
Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico says 38-year-old Jarrod Tutko, Sr. was charged in connection with the death of 8-year-old Jarrod Tutko, Jr.
Investigators were called to a home on the 2100 block of Green Street around 9 p.m. Friday night, where the boy’s body was discovered.
Over the course of the investigation, authorities determined that the child had died in the home at some point over the last several days.
Tutko, Sr. was reportedly aware of his son’s death, but only informed his wife of the matter when the odor of decomposition became too strong—at which point she called police.
Marsico said Tutko is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, concealing the death of a child and abuse of a corpse. He was arraigned Saturday morning, and is currently in Dauphin County Prison on $500,000 bail.
Officials said an autopsy on the boy is scheduled for Tuesday.
