A custodian for Pennsylvania’s Department of General Services has been charged with indecently assaulting two women in the East Wing of the state Capitol building.
Andre Hawthorne, 49, of Harrisburg, was also charged with two counts each of unlawful restraint, simple assault and harassment, according to court documents,
Both women were employees of the East Wing Cafe, according to the complaint.
One of the women told Capitol police that Hawthorne followed her into a restroom in the East Wing hallway and pushed his body against hers to prevent her from leaving. He allegedly told her: “I know you want me. I know you want it.”
The other woman said Hawthorne followed her from the restroom to the Welcome Center and pulled her into a room, pushed her against the wall, and refused to let her leave as he kissed her.
Both women were able to get away during the incidents, which occurred between June 30 and July 3, according to the complaint.
Hawthorne was jailed in Dauphin County Prison on $150,000 bail.
