Nighttime road repair work is scheduled to begin next week on a 4.5-mile section of Interstate 83 in northern York County.
The work between the Sheep Bridge Road overpass in Newberry Township and the Fishing Creek Road overpass in Fairview Township will begin Sunday at 9 p.m., weather permitting, according to a PennDOT news release.
Crews will repair the highway in preparation for paving.
Drivers should expect short-term single-lane restrictions through the end of October during work hours, which are from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays.
PennDOT spokesman Mike Crochunis said the contractor may choose to work Friday or Saturday nights if work is delayed by weather or other circumstances during the week.
The $3.5 million project is financed entirely with funds from the new transportation plan enacted by Governor Tom Corbett in April.
