Nighttime repair work on nearly nine miles of Route 283 in western Lancaster County has been postponed from Sunday to July 20.
PennDOT and the contractor have agreed that roadway base repair is not necessary on the project, spokesman Mike Crochunis said Friday.
Construction workers are preparing to repave the roadway from just east of the Elizabethtown Road overpass in Mount Joy Township to just west of Little Chiques Creek in Rapho Township.
Milling will begin July 21, Crochunis said.
Work hours will be from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, but the contractor may choose to work Friday or Saturday nights, if needed.
The $6.25 million project, funded through the state’s new transportation plan, is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
