Marijuana growing operation discovered in Lititz basement

State police discovered a marijuana growing operation the basement of a home in Lititz, Lancaster County on Wednesday morning.

In June, vice/narcotics units with the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into the sale and distribution of marijuana in Lititz.

Following an undercover operation, police obtained a search warrant for the home of their suspect, 26-year-old Michael Andrew Alexander of the 1300 block of Bunny View Drive.

After executing the warrant on Thursday morning at 10:55 a.m., officials located Alexander inside his home and took him into custody.

Authorities discovered a marijuana growing operation in the basement. They seized 229 plants, 2 pounds of cultivated marijuana ready for sale, $620, collectible coins, $2,000 in electronics, and equipment for indoor growing (including 11 indoor lights, air filters and ventilation equipment).

Alexander was charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession to deliver marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
