Dogs euthanized following Spring Garden attack

Police in York County have filed charges against the owner of two dogs that fatally attacked another dog and injured its elderly owner.

Jasmine A. McKinnis, 29, of York, was cited Tuesday for counts including harboring dangerous dogs, according to Spring Garden Township police.

She also voluntarily turned over her animals to the SPCA to be euthanized, police said.

Police said McKinnis’s pit bulls attacked and killed a shih-poo Saturday morning at the intersection of County Club Road and Wiltshire Road.

The 78-year-old owner of the shih-poo was treated at York Hospital for multiple lacerations to his arms and hands and abrasions to his arms and legs he sustained while trying to protect his pet, police said.

The pit bulls were taken into custody a short distance from where the attack occurred, police said.
