York will close streets in the area of Kiwanis Lake and Noonan Park on Wednesday during a bicycle race for the Can-Am Police-Fire Games.
The cycling event will begin at 8 a.m. and follow a course from Parkway Boulevard to Atlantic Avenue, to Wood Street, Pennsylvania Avenue and back to Parkway, according to a city police news release.
The streets used for the race will be closed to traffic beginning at 7:30 a.m. until the end of the event, which could be as late as 4 p.m.
Parking will be prohibited on these streets beginning at 7 a.m.
Roads closed to traffic will include:
– Parkway Boulevard from Newberry Street to Pacific Avenue;
– Atlantic Avenue from Parkway Boulevard to Noonan Street;
– Wood Street from Pacific Avenue to Pennsylvania Avenue; and
– Pennsylvania Avenue from Noonan to Willis Run Road.
Traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue from Route 30 will be detoured onto Willis Run Road to Smith Street to Parkway Boulevard, and traffic on Pennsylvania Avenue from Roosevelt Avenue will be detoured onto Noonan Road to Pacific Avenue.
Travelers are encouraged to use Roosevelt Avenue to Route 30 and bypass Pennsylvania Avenue, police said.
All streets should be open to traffic by 4 p.m.
