Carlisle police looking into possible child abduction attempt

Carlisle police are investigating the possible attempted abduction of a 9-year-old boy Wednesday evening.

The boy said he was watching other children playing in the area of Bretz Avenue and West Locust Street when a young man approached him, covered his mouth, and escorted him west on Bretz Avenue toward North West Street around 8:30 p.m., according to a police news release.

He said the stranger then tried to force him into a dark blue sedan similar to a Ford Taurus that was parked in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church lot at North West Street and West Locust Avenue.

He described the person as a young adult, about 6’0″ tall with short, dirty blond hair, and wearing jean shorts, a black hooded sweatshirt, and red Nike sneakers, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Carlisle police at 717-243-5252.
