York woman, 29, charged after pit bulls attack, kill dog

A York woman faces charges after police say her pit bulls attacked and killed a man’s dog during a walk.

Authorities in Spring Garden Township were called to the intersection of County Club and Wiltshire roads on Saturday around 10:35 a.m.

Reports indicate that two pit bulls were attacking another dog and its owner.

Police said the 78-year-old victim was walking his dog, a Shi-Poo, when the two pit bulls approached and attacked the pair.

The victim was injured on his arms, hands and legs while trying to protect his dog. The Shi-Poo died from injuries sustained during the attack, and the victim was treated at York Hospital.

The pit bulls were taken into custody a short distance from where the attack occurred.

On Tuesday, the owner of the pit bulls, 29-year-old Jasmine A. McKinnis of York, was charged with harboring dangerous dogs, failing to vaccinate against rabies, and application for dog license.

The pit bulls were voluntarily turned over to the SPCA to be euthanized.
