A Camp Hill man was arrested after police said he robbed a Hampden Township pharmacy and led officers on a pursuit early this morning.
George A. Greenwalt, 21, is accused of taking prescription medication from the CVS Pharmacy at the intersection of Carlisle Pike and Sporting Hill Road around 3:30 a.m.
An officer saw Greenwalt driving without headlights at the intersection shortly after the robbery and tried to stop him, but he made a U-turn and fled to Route 11/15 and through Camp Hill, East Pennsboro Township and Wormleysburg, police said.
He then traveled to Interstate 81, where state police intervened caused Greenwalt’s vehicle to crash into a fence after exiting at Wertzville Road.
Greenwalt was taken into custody and items stolen from the pharmacy were recovered from his vehicle, police said.
Police said he later admitted to the robbery and another at the pharmacy on May 14. He also told officers he had ingested an unknown quantity of the medication.
He was taken to a hospital for observation and was awaiting arraignment on charges of robbery, theft, simple assault, fleeing and eluding, and driving without headlights to avoid identification.
