Businesses happy for start of summer

With the warmer weather finally sticking around in the Midstate, many people were catching up on their gardens and buying flowers at Carlisle Country Living Agway.

“It was a very unusual winter and it was longer than normal, and we even had some frost past Mother’s Day which is unusual. We have people putting in their gardens late, so we have been selling a lot of the vegetables; tomatoes and peppers and and the melons. Everybody is tired of the winter,” sales associate Kay Gossage said.

This as the first time in 60 years Massey’s Frozen Custard was open through the winter.

“First bad winter and we are open all year,” said Rebecca Goodling. “We had some business and now that the weather is good we are getting busy.”
