Former firefighter sentenced in theft, charged in arson

A former firefighter has been sentenced for theft and charged in a separate case of arson.

Thaddeus Austin of Palmyra was a volunteer firefighter and treasurer for the Hershey Fire Company.  Police said he stole $130,000 from the fire department.

Austin was sentenced Thursday to at least a year behind bars for that theft.  Then, Swatara Township police charged him with arson.  They said he set a fire that damaged a UPS terminal back in March.
