Work on Route 72 intersection near Jonestown to begin Monday

Work to improve the safety of the Route 72 intersection with Jonestown Road is scheduled to begin Monday.

Drivers may encounter shifting traffic patterns weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. once the preparatory work begins at the intersection west of Jonestown in Union Township, according to a PennDOT news release.

The project includes a new traffic signal with pedestrian accommodation, curb cut work required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, milling and resurfacing, guiderail installation, and new signs and pavement markings.
