A developer has plans for a hotel near Middletown’s soon-to-be-renovated downtown.
Borough spokesman Chris Courogen said the announcement was made during Monday night’s Bough Council meeting.
David L. Stubbs, managing director of United Realty and Infrastructure Group LLC, proposed a brand-name hotel with more than 100 rooms at the southwest corner of West Emaus and Catherine streets, across the street from Borough Hall, one block from the South Union Street downtown area, Courogen said in a news release.
The plan call for retail space on the first floor and the hotel above it. The hotel will be a national brand, but a specific name was not identified, Courogen said.
Courogen said the planned revitalization of the downtown was one of the factors cited in choosing the Middletown site.
