Police in York County are warning people about credit card counterfeiters.
This, after a local woman had her bank card duplicated.
She noticed something was wrong after $200 was taken out of her account. The charge was linked to a Walmart in Hatfield, Pa.
Police believe someone used a skimming device to steal her credit card information and then made a new one.
Experts say that is quite common and surprisingly easy.
“They will go to an ATM machine or gas station and will place the device over the card reader slot,” said John Sancenito of Information Network Associates in Harrisburg. “So it is subtle, may stick out an inch or two, but the person will insert their credit card through it.”
The woman said police were able to identify the person who used her duplicate card through store surveillance video.
