Pa. Police: $16M in drugs seized this year

Pennsylvania troopers seized more than $16 million in heroin, crystal meth and other illegal drugs in the first three months of 2014, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said today.

Noonan said troopers seized about 37 pounds of heroin, with a street value of about $8.5 million, during undercover operations across the state.

Troopers additionally seized 23 pounds each of methamphetamine and cocaine, both worth about $1 million, and more than 700,000 prescription pills and 1,325 pounds of marijuana valued together at over $4 million, Noonan said.

In 2013, state police seized over $55 million in illegal drugs.
