A Lancaster County man arrested for thefts from vehicles last month was charged with additional offenses after investigators learned he had been committing the crimes for three months, police said.
Craig M. Bennett, 22, of Lancaster, was arrested March 26 after he was seen attempting to enter vehicles on Atkins Avenue in Lancaster Township, according to Manheim Township police.
He was charged with theft from motor vehicles and placed in Lancaster County Prison.
Police said they have since linked Bennett to numerous other thefts from vehicles that had occurred in the
same area of Lancaster Township between January 23 and March 23.
Windows of the vehicles were shattered before purses, wallets, electronics and other items were taken, according to police, who said some of the stolen items were found in Bennett's home.
Bennett was also linked to a purse theft at the CVS on Millersville Pike in January and the use of a stolen
credit card at the Sunoco on Columbia Avenue.
He was additionally charged with 11 counts of theft from motor
vehicle, theft, access device fraud, and loitering and prowling at night.
