Police looking for car carrier driver who struck teen cyclist

Police are looking for the truck driver who struck a 17-year-old Lancaster County boy on a bicycle this week in East Hempfield Township.

Township police said they would like to speak to the car carrier driver to aid in the reconstruction of the accident.

The teen was struck in the 1900 block of State Road, in the area of a Turkey Hill Mini Market and Kelly Cadillac, around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

He was on a mountain bike, wearing a green shirt, and was traveling northbound on State Road at the time of the accident, police said.

He was transported by ambulance to Lancaster General Hospital and remains hospitalized due to his injuries.

The car carrier was described as having either a black or gray color and would have been traveling northbound on State Road toward the East Petersburg area, police said.

Anyone who was in the area and saw something related to the accident is asked to call East Hempfield police at 717-898-3103.
