Man gets probation in shooting death of infant daughter

A judge sentenced a Lancaster County man to six months probation for the accidental shooting death of his 2-month-old daughter on Christmas Eve 2013.

G. Scott Davis, 35, entered a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter charges in court.

District Attorney Craig Stedman said Davis was alone with the baby girl and was handling a newly purchased 9mm handgun when the firearm discharged inside his apartment in the 2100 block of Old Philadelphia Pike in East Lampeter Township.

Davis's infant daughter, Kestyn Davis, was about 12 feet away and died after the bullet struck her in the abdomen.
