The Hershey community is being invited to add its collective two cents into a new look for downtown Hershey. The Downtown Hershey Association (DHA) is bringing together government leaders, residents, local businesses and civic organizations to help with a plan to enhance the region around Chocolate Avenue.
“The Downtown Hershey Association was started last year and its purpose is to get people in the community together to form a collective vision of the future of Hershey,” said Chairperson Ed Uravic on Good Day PA on abc27.
On April 10, a public discussion will be held at The Hershey Story and will be lead by Lititz-based firm Derck & Edson. According to the DHA, the firm also developed plans for downtown Lititz and Elizabethtown.
“People will have a chance to say what kinds of streetlights they want to see, what kinds of benches they want and what kinds of things they want to see pop up in the downtown,” Uravic said. “We would like to have a downtown that has more things to do for people, more shopping, more restaurants, more places to live so that folks can sort of live on top of the store and work in the store or live in apartments and walk to work right inside the village center.”
