Federal authorities have charged five central Pennsylvania residents with trafficking heroin in Franklin and Cumberland County, and three of the defendants face charges in a heroin death.
U.S. Attorney Peter Smith identified the defendants as Ashley Gries, 19; Danny Guy Forrester, 48; Michael Anthony DeCarlo, 31; Jeffrey Lynn Wright, Jr., 31, all of Shippensburg; and Gabriel John Stouffer, 30, of Newburg.
A grand jury indictment made public Wednesday alleges the five trafficked heroin in Franklin and Cumberland counties from October 2013 to March 2014.
Gries, Forrester, and Stouffer were also charged with drug trafficking offenses that led to the death of 21-year-old Kyle Andrew Golter in Lurgan Township, Smith said.
Golter's death in February was found to be the result of heroin toxicity.
Gries, Forrester and Stouffer each face at least 20 years in prison and a maximum penalty of life behind bars, Smith said.
DeCarlo and Wright face up to 40 years in prison.
