Police looking for dog thief

Police are looking for a woman who allegedly stole a dog in York County.

State police in York said the unknown woman took the dog Wednesday morning after she saw the animal running in a field near the Rutters Farm Store at 359 N. Main Street in Loganville.

Surveillance video from the store shows her running up to the dog, taking it and putting it in her white BMW SUV, police said.

Prior to leaving the store, another customer gave her the name of the dog's owner. The dog had broken its chain and had no identifying tags on him, according to police.

The woman, however, did not attempt to make contact with the owner. She was last seen traveling east on North Street, police said.

The dog was described as an all-white Alaskan malamute-mix, about 80-90 lbs, and very friendly.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police in York at 717-428-1011.
