A Middletown man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman with special needs.
John Philip Peterson, 43, raped and assaulted the woman in her Middletown home in July, then told her not to tell anyone because it was their secret, police said in a news release Friday.
The victim complained to her mother, who notified authorities.
Police said they recovered various evidence from the scene, including items later confirmed to have potential DNA evidence.
Peterson was already in Dauphin County Prison on unrelated charges. He was to be arraigned Friday on charges including rape, rape of a mentally disabled person, sexual assault and indecent assault.
