One person died and 146 others were injured in 836 crashes investigated by Pennsylvania State Police during the New Year's holiday.
Police said 36 crashes they investigated from December 31 to January 2 were alcohol-related.
Troopers made 220 arrests for driving under the influence and issued 3,013 speeding citations during the three-day period.
Police also cited 361 people for failure to wear seatbelts and cited 42 others for failing to properly restrain children in safety seats.
During the holiday last year, one person was killed and 86 were injured in 377 crashes investigated by state police.
The numbers cover only incidents investigated by state police and do not include crashes investigated by other law enforcement agencies.
