Doctor charged with indecently touching another patient

A Lebanon doctor already accused of having improper contact with female patients during exams at a North Londonderry Township medical practice is facing additional charges he  inappropriately touched another patient.

Dr. Samuel Rashid was charged Tuesday with indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors.

According to the criminal complaint, his latest accuser told investigators that she began seeing Rashid at Lebanon Valley Family Medicine around 1996, and that he would cup her breasts when checking her heartbeat.

She told police that Rashid placed his hand under her bra onto her bare skin, and when she was at the age of 15 or 16 he insisted on giving her a pelvic exam during every visit, even if the visit was for a sore throat, according to the complaint.

The woman said that during one particular visit for a sinus infection, Rashid put his hands down her pants and underneath her underwear while she was alone with him in the examination room, the court document states.

She told authorities that she changed physicians after the incident.

Rashid is awaiting trial for indecent assaults on three other patients, and prosecutors have said more than 30 women are willing to testify against him.

His other accusers include a young woman who told authorities she was 12 or 13 years old when
Rashid rubbed her breast under her bra during an examination for a
possible ear infection in 2008.

Another woman told authorities that Rashid touched her underneath her underwear during an exam in 2012.

Rashid, 59, has denied the allegations through his attorney.

He took a leave of absence from Lebanon Valley Family Medicine
after the initial charges were filed in July.

As part of an agreement with the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine, he may not examine female patients without a
chaperone, and he must inform patients of their right to have a chaperone present.
