Police: Thieves struck at 25 homes in 2 months

Police are urging residents in one part of Cumberland County to be watchful for suspicious activity due to a rash of thefts from sheds and garages during the last two months.

Silver Spring Township police said they are investigating approximately 25 incidents where power tools and lawn equipment was stolen since September 16.

Police said the thefts have occurred during overnight hours in seven separate incidents.

In each incident, the thieves targeted between two to six homes, all within walking distance of each other, during the same overnight.

Snow blowers, chainsaws, weed wackers, leaf blowers, power washers, generators and dirt bikes are among the items stolen.

Police urged anyone who sees suspicious activity to report it immediately.
