Melanie Christensen has been picking up a turkey they day before the holiday for the past several years.
“Until I get my baking done,” said Christensen, “refrigerator space is at a premium, so I wait the day before.”
Christensen added that her husband is in charge of preparing and cooking the turkey while she makes all the side dishes.
Bill Rodgers of Harrisburg said his wife was not aware that he stopped to pick up some groceries that he didn't buy earlier in the week. He said the turkey was already in the oven when he was getting his last minute items and he is looking forward to getting all the food ready for Thanksgiving Day.
