Halloween Park reopens following flood

A popular York County haunted attraction, which flooded during last week's nearly record rain, reopened Friday night.

The owner of Halloween Park in Conewago Township said there were nearly 8 feet of water in the building last Friday. Electrical equipment was ruined, and the haunted house had to close during a prime peak season weekend.

After a week of cleanup, Halloween Park opened its doors to visitors.

Still, the whole ordeal has jeopardized the haunted house's future. Owner Stacey Eckenrode doesn't know if another season is possible.

They are banking on a big couple of weekends to finish the season.

“[We'll] just see how it goes,” Eckenrode said.

The haunted attraction has been operating for 17 years. Eckenrode said flooding has recently become an issue over the past several years. The last time Halloween Park flooded was during Hurricane Sandy.
