Suspect headed to trial for setting man on fire

A Lancaster County man accused of setting another man on fire last month will remain jailed on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and arson.

Jeremy Hostetter, 35, of Marietta, was held for court Friday during his preliminary hearing.

Susquehanna Regional police said Hostetter had an ongoing feud with 57-year-old Marlin Dyer and during a fight Sept. 22 he allegedly threw a flammable liquid on Dyer and set the fire with a cigarette lighter.

Dyer was flown to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center in Baltimore with burns to more than 50 percent of his body. He was listed in serious condition Friday afternoon.

Hostetter remains in Lancaster County Prison without bail.

His formal arraignment was set for Oct. 25.
