Police in Cumberland County said they are investigating an incident where an 11-year-old boy was allowed to roam a Middlesex Township neighborhood alone.
Township police said they were called to the Keystone Arms development Wednesday after the child was dropped off by a school bus and reportedly had been wandering around the development for hours.
Police said they found the boy walking around with no food or water and no relatives in the area.
The mother of the child eventually showed up and investigating officers learned that the
child had lived in the development and had been moved out of the school district but was
never transferred, police said.
Authorities said the mother frequently allowed the child to be dropped off by the
bus in a development where he had no adult supervision or family and picked him up several hours later.
The case has been referred to Children and Youth Services and the district attorney's office.
