Pennsylvania American Water plans to begin a water main replacement project in East Pennsboro Township this weekend.
Construction will begin Sunday evening on North and South Enola Drive between Louis Lane and West North Avenue and on Louis Lane between North Enola Drive and Henry Road.
The company said the approximately $1.2 million upgrade will replace aging and undersized pipe that dates as far back as 1903, and will improve reliability for customers, reduce service disruptions and increase water flows for firefighting.
Crews will install nearly 7,200 feet of new 12-inch ductile iron pipe, in addition to replacing 10 fire hydrants.
To minimize traffic disruptions, construction will take place during the overnight hours between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Customers might experience temporary service interruptions, discolored water, and lower than normal water pressure during the construction, the company said.
Pennsylvania American Water expects to complete the water main
installation by the end of the year. Final paving restoration is
scheduled for next spring.
