Ephrata Community Hospital and WellSpan Health announced Friday they have finalized plans to align their health care
organizations on October 1.
In a joint news release, the organizations said their affiliation would address changes in health care and improve the health of individuals and communities across Adams and York counties and parts of Lancaster County.
York Hospital and Gettysburg
Hospital, both part of WellSpan, and Ephrata Community Hospital will operate under separate licenses and medical staffs.
John M. Porter Jr. will remain president of Ephrata Community Hospital and will join WellSpan's management team as a senior vice president, and the hospital will continue to be governed by a local board of directors, according to the news release.
Ephrata Community Hospital provides care to patients from across Lancaster and neighboring counties and operates 11 outpatient centers, the Ephrata Cancer Center and 19 practices of the Northern Lancaster County Medical Group.
In addition to York Hospital and Gettysburg Hospital, WellSpan is comprised of the WellSpan Medical Group, WellSpan VNA Home Care and the WellSpan Surgery & Rehabilitation Hospital in York.
