A Lancaster county man charged with abducting and sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Harold Herr pleaded guilty Wednesday to kidnapping, involuntary sexual deviant intercourse with a child, and aggravated indecent assault. Herr admitted that back on July 11, 2013, he snatched a five-year-old girl from her Lancaster Township yard. Two teenage boys saved the little girl, but not before Herr sexually assaulted the child.

During the plea hearing a video message from the victim was played. She told Herr, “Stop taking little kids.”

To ensure that will never happen again, the judge sentenced Herr to 50 to 100 years in jail.

During the hearing, Herr offered an emotional apology and said he needs to be, “put in the proper place for his problems.” But family members of the victim did not accept the apology.

The victim's grandmother, Sonja Cintron, had a chance to confront Herr in the courtroom.

“I called him a monster and he sure is,” said Cintron. “But it felt good to let him know that we're gonna get through this. And he's gonna rot in jail.”

Cintron said her granddaughter is doing well and started kindergarten this week.

“I'm pretty sure she's gonna come out of it just fine,” Cintron said.

Herr is 73-years-old and with this sentence, he wouldn't be able to get out of jail until he's at least 123-years-old.
