A Cumberland County man faces criminal charges after officials say he
threw and injured his 2-month-old daughter earlier this month.
North Middleton Township Police have charged Brendon Randall Groves, 25, of the 900 block of Gobin Drive with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Police say Groves admitted to throwing his infant daughter because she was crying. He claims to have picked the girl up and thrown her against a couch in his living room. The child then landed on a table-like portion of the couch on her neck and head.
On August 4 around 10:20 a.m., first responders were called to Groves's home to attend to a 2-month-old child who was not breathing.
Life Lion subsequently transported the infant to Penn State Hershey Milton Hershey Medical Center where it was discovered that the infant was injured by the assault.
Groves turned himself in around 4:20 p.m. Friday after learning of an arrest warrant.
He had a preliminary arraignment that evening where his bail was set at $750,000.
Groves is currently in the Cumberland County Jail.
