Women waive hearings in Harrisburg arsons

Two Harrisburg women are headed to trial for setting two fires that displaced 18 people last month.

Eighteen-year-olds Alexis Poteat and Aliah Alli waived their preliminary hearings before a district judge Thursday, allowing their cases to proceed to Dauphin County Court.

Formal arraignments were scheduled for September 24.

Authorities accuse Poteat, Alli and a 13-year-old girl of setting fires that damaged eight homes
in the 2000 block of Susquehanna Street and four homes in the 2100
block of Penn Street in the early hours of July 8.

Poteat and Alli face trial on six felony charges; including two counts each of arson, risking a catastrophe, and criminal conspiracy. An additional charge of corruption of minors against Alli was withdrawn.

Both women remain in the Dauphin County Prison on $20,000 cash bail.

The 13-year-old will be prosecuted in juvenile court.
