First responders paid a final tribute to a fallen firefighter this morning.
Bruce Sensenig, a 20-year-old member of the Quentin Volunteer Fire Company, died in a car crash Monday evening while responding to another accident.
His funeral was for family only, so firefighters from Quentin and surrounding companies lined the procession route along Evergreen Road to give Sensenig a final salute.
“One of the things he wanted to be as a kid was a fireman, I'm glad we were able to give him the opportunity to become a firefighter,” Quentin Fire Chief Stanley Singer said.
Singer said that Quentin, which was organized in 1931, had never had a line of duty death. He said Sensenig's death was particularly difficult for the company because he was such a young firefighter.
Police have said Sensenig was about three-quarters of a mile from the fire department when he crossed the center line of Route 322 and collided with a van.
Investigators believe he lost control during a heavy rain.
