Police said they arrested three men who attempted to get more than $2,000 from a Lancaster County resident in a driveway sealing scam.
Manheim Township police said the resident was approached by the three Thursday outside a home in the 1600 block of Ridgedale Drive.
The men offered to coat the driveway and when the work was completed, the resident was handed a bill for $2,350, police said.
The home owner called police, who arrived while the workers from “Express Paving & Seal Coating Inc.” were still present.
The men were arrested after it was determined that they had intentionally
overcharged for the work, and that the business
address and phone number on their materials had been
made up, police said.
Authorities identified the men as Robert J. Hicks Jr., 23, and Thomas N. Hicks, 20, both of Newport News, Va., and Chester A. Lupton Jr., 27, of Millville, N.J.
Each was charged with attempted theft by deception and criminal conspiracy.
